Transitioning into a new job alsways seems to get me down. Especially if said job is quiet and at a desk. It happend right after my sophomore year in college, and that sucked. And now it’s happening again. I don’t know how people can sit at a desk all the time, but I suppose it’s a little more intense with summer jobs where you never really get accustomed to the normal routine.
What I can do to cheer up: go to the gym (I actually jogged during lunch on Mon and Tues. Man, it’s hot), find the work I do interesting (it is actually interesting), don’t schedule so many things that I should be doing when I’m home (do 3 things, and then vege), be thankful, go to church, pet Dylan, hug EJ.
Things I don’t like about New York City in the summer: hand sweat on the subway poles, walking to the subway in the AM when it’s already 80 degrees, having beaches close, yet so far away, hot and crowded subway platforms.
What I do like about New York City in the summer: shaved ice (fresh off the block), street fairs before noon, “beaches” two blocks from my house! (see Ej’s blog), the AC that waifs out of open building doors as you pass, so many free concerts.
Filed under Uncategorized | Comment (0)I watch Children of Men this weekend. I was quite introspective for about an hour. The typical, “wow, death is so absolute and life is so short – what am I doing with my life, like really with my life?” Sometimes these feelings come over me, and I have yet to really harness them into anything conclusive or constructive.
Check out EJ’s blog for pictures of the weekend’s cheese eating contest. EJ just told me the legendary Nathan’s Hot Dog eater has jaw arthritis, so may not be competing this 4th of July in the hot-dog eating contest.

I’m still reading the Power Broker – 1/12 of the way through at page 100. I am amazed by really “dedicated” people. Or extremely academic persons who have learned “how to get things done”. I feel in my position right now I should be taking much more advantage of having intelligent, dedicated people around me. I want to become an expert in something right? I would like to create impact-ful reports on things like Robert Moses, right? Hmm. I am working in a good place to test that. We’ll see how it goes.

hi, blog!
I bet no one reads you anymore, but that’s okay. I’m writing,
right?
EJ and I are headed to Bonorroo tomorrow…camping, music, TN. Good
times. It’s been fun packing for a camping trip, although it’s a
little difficult when you have to get on a plane before you start
camping.
I am working full time up here at CU for the summer. Yeah getting
paid. It’s a long commute, but I think it’s just because I am
spoiled by short ones. I have started carrying (and actually
reading) the Power Broker. That will be my summer giant book.
